A new phenomena in the lighting world is the arc floor lamp.

The Arced Lamp Phenomena

Yes, these lamps have probably been around for years (but I’m too young to remember, of course, haha!) but in recent times these have really incited interest and excitement.

You probably already know what an arced floor lamp is. Just to recap though, an arced floor lamp, which is also called an arcing floor lamp or arced lamp, is a lamp whose neck arcs – either downwards or outwards. This particular style of arced neck has led to this lamp being called an arc or arch lamp. In general, this style of lamp is used as a floor lamp, although some smaller table arc lamps are available these days.

Arc Table Lamps

In addition to arc floor lamps, arc table lamps are popular these days. These are similar in design to the arc floor lamp, but much smaller and are used on tables instead of the floor.

These arced table lamps can be used by themselves, or they can be paired with arcing floor lamps to create a pulled-together look in a house. Many people also like to use a pair of table lamps to light up their room, one on each of two tables.

Flloor Arc Lamps

Arcing Floor lamps are as the name might suggest, placed on the floor.

Now, depending on the design of the lamp, you could place the arching floor lamp either in one corner of the room, or in the middle of the room.

Corner Placement for “Arc Floor Lamps”

Some “arc floor lamps”, as they are more popularly known, only have one neck or arm, that is, only one light fixture. These are generally placed in a corner of the room.

Some arc floor lamps have multiple heads, and depending on their arc style, they can be placed either in the middle or the centre of the room.

In general, an arched floor lamps whose neck arches downwards, is placed in a corner of the room. This way, although it is not placed in the middle of the room, the light reaches down towards the middle of the room. This kind of placement can create a very subtle and glamorous statement. The arch will still reach towards the middle of the room, so anyone in the room will enjoy the light.

However, an arching floor lamp which is placed in the centre of the room might look a bit awkward since its light shade will be positioned in a corner, due to the downward arch of the lamp neck.

Center Placement for an “Arc Floor Lamp”

Some arc floor lamps have arms that curve outwards. These are similar to upright lamps, but they have multiple arms which are arched, and are in general much more aesthetically pleasing than normal lamps.

Because these lamps have a base and extend upwards, these are suitable for placing in the center of the room.

Which Room to Place Your Arch Floor Lamp In

You can really put your arch floor lamps in any room of the house. They suit all rooms, whether it’s a bedroom, a lounge room or a dining room.

Most arched floor lamps have heavy, solid bases and are difficult to tip over, so they are safe in any room – regardless of whether it is frequented by such careless and often clumsy household members as pets, children or husbands.
